Alaska is a long drive, and Tom wants to be sure our den-on-wheels is ready. So, he called a place in Boise, Idaho and said he’d bring it in two weeks. The last time we were in Idaho was during the Great American Eclipse of 2017, but we only stayed a couple days. This time, we planned to stay with Tom’s brother for a week while they fixed up our den-on-wheels.
On the way to Boise, we stopped at Bruneau Dunes State Park. It was Easter, and the campground was full. Luckily, we had reservations. There were lots of kids and doggoes running around. We even found a decorated egg on our doorstep on Easter morning! I wanted to eat it, but Tom got it first.
Best of all, there are lots of sand hills there. I love sand. Maybe more than snow. They both feel funny between my toes, but I don’t need a coat to play in the sand. Some people were sliding down the sand hills on boards. It looked like fun, until one little girl fell off. She seemed like she wanted to cry, but then she got back on and rode the rest of the way down.
After we left the sand hills, we dropped off our den-on-wheels in Boise and went to visit with Tom’s brother. His brother has a movie theatre in his house! I’ve never seen a movie theatre, because they don’t allow doggoes. We watched a lot of movies while we were there.
Tom’s brother also has a back yard. It was like having my own private dog park! I ran around like crazy until I couldn’t run any more every day. We also went for a hike along the Snake River. It’s the biggest river I’ve ever seen! The water was ice cold and tasted great!
After we got our den-on-wheels back, we left Idaho and found a place in Oregon to camp on the Snake River. I’ll tell you about that next time. Tom says maybe we’ll visit his brother again when we come back from Alaska. He makes it up as we go along. Me, I’m just along for the ride.
